The Lady Irish dominated this weekend, coming out 2-1 against the Carmel Greyhounds. Because of this impressive win these girls have officially become Regional Champions.

The next step for these ladies is Semi State. However, as the competition increases there may be some obstacles. Senior center back Mary Hughes said, “Our biggest challenge in preparing for semi state is maintaining our focus, as the season gets longer and longer it’s important that the whole team continues to buy in and continues to work hard”

While staying focused on the game there are specific things they have been working on in preparation. “We are continuing to work on speed of play and possession during practices, and it’s our goal to effectively work hard and improve as a team every day,” Hughes said.

This year the seniors set goals for the team that may be no different than other teams, but they stayed focus on each goal. Hughes said, “Our expectations this year were to work hard, play for each other and to win state. So far we’ve worked hard and played for each other, so now all that’s left is to win state”
