After winning his second consecutive individual wrestling title in dominating fashion, junior Zeke Seltzer is still trying to find ways to improve as he heads into his senior year.

Seltzer finished his third year of high school wrestling with a perfect 33-0 record and won his second State championship at 126 pounds During his sophomore year he won at 120 pounds.

 “Heading into this year, it was hard to find training with Covid going on,” he said. Seltzer mentioned that his club used to work out at Lawrence North High School, but he and his fellow wrestlers had to just “throw down a mat in a barn” in order to maintain their training this past year. 

Though he has already reached the mountaintop for the second time, Seltzer still has a few goals he would like to accomplish this next year. “I want to just keep working on my freestyle, and I want to win Fargo and Super 32,” he said. According to Seltzer, Super 32 is the most difficult and competitive wrestling tournament in the country. 

As the Number-4 ranked wrestler in his weight class, Seltzer says he has been talking to a few different colleges about continuing his career. He mentioned Purdue, Wisconsin, Missouri, Virginia Tech and George Mason as some of the first ones to reach out to him. 

Looking forward to next year’s high school season, Seltzer is excited about his team. “We’ve got a very young team and I think our future is looking bright,” he said. As a senior leader, he knows his job will be to set an example. He said, “I want to really get the young guys going and make another run at state.”
