Spring sports preview: Track and field

Last+year+the+women%E2%80%99s+track+and+field+team+won+the+State+championship+for+the+first+time+in+the+history+of+the+school.

Last year the women’s track and field team won the State championship for the first time in the history of the school.

The men’s track and field team will return a number of upperclassmen as they look to make a run at a State title. These include seniors Michael Page, Q.J. Cannon, Seth Mencer, Sean Delaney, Cole Brewer, Jacob Leon, Dominic Seibal and Charlie Schenck as well as juniors Liam Eifert, Caleb Martin, Brennan Wooten and Dylan Keller. 

The women’s team will look to repeat after their first State title last season. They return senior and Notre Dame commit Reece Sanders as well as senior Milani Kimble, juniors Kailee Swart, Karsyn Kramer, Catherine Holtrup, Grace Bragg, Dearbhlah Delaney, Brooke Wojcieszek, Sidney Sanders and Madeline Taylor with sophomore Evey Wagner.

Upcoming: The team will kick off their outdoor season at Eastern Hancock on March 23 at 5 p.m. and will finish off the month with the HSR State Finals at Indiana University on March 26 at 4 p.m. 

From Coach O’Hara: “After winning the 2021 State title, the girls’ team is ready to prove they belong with the rest of the state again. The boys have a strong and deep team. (We are) looking to make big improvements from 2021 to 2022.”
