The issue is being prepped currently, with Senior Erin Emmick working on a cover design.

For the first time ever, Cathedral will be recognizing the seniors from the Class of 2023 in a new way, a Senior Signing Day Issue.

The seniors were asked by Newspaper teacher Mr. Marc Quaranta to provide him with a picture with a college related item, where they will attend college, their majors/minors, what they will miss about Cathedral and advice for future students. Quaranta hopes to be able to print out these issues before the Class of ‘23 leaves for summer.

YesPrep, a charter school in Houston inspired Principal Julie Barthel to incorporate something similar to their senior recognition for those on the Hill. The idea for the senior issue comes from a book that administrators were reading “The Power of Moments”.

Barthel believes that this can help seniors for years to come and act as a strong recognition to their accomplishments. She wrote, “I think this will help every senior feel recognized and celebrated. It will also hopefully inspire younger students as it did at YesPrep.”

The specific details and finalized issue will come in the near future bringing recognition to the Class of 2023, and classes to follow. She wrote,“We have always had the May 1st decision day where we let seniors wear their college shirts and we display a map where everyone is going. We have never had a featured Megaphone.”
