For the first time in two years, the annual Christmas dance will take place in the Shiel Student Life Center and the dining hall.

The event will be Dec. 4 from 7 to 10 p.m. with a $5 entry fee for each student. Senior Class moderator Mrs. Katie Lewis said the dance will provide a great opportunity to have fun before the preparation for final exams begin. 

If some students do not want to dance, a Christmas-themed movie will shown as well.

Toward the end of the dance, freshman and sophomore ice royalty — a prince and princess for each class — will be crowned based on votes cast by their classmates. 

Last year, the school was unable to host the event during to Covid-19. Consequently, the Class of 2024 did not crown ice royalty. As a result, the dance committee decided to name ice princes and princesses for both the sophomore and freshman classes. This year, due to the pandemic, masks are required and no outside guests are permitted. 

Winter formal is a girls ask guys dance, although Lewis said, “A ton of people go in groups and sometimes I think they even have more fun than people going on dates.” Freshmen, sophomores and juniors are asked to dress up, while seniors should wear their silliest ugly Christmas sweaters for the evening.
