- Texas
Texas continued to look like the best team in the nation even after what could be a huge injury. Quinn Ewers went down with an abdominal strain and Texas didn’t miss a beat putting in 5-Star back up Arch Manning. They cruised Week 3 beating UTSA 56-7, and Arch Manning had 4 passing touchdowns. Texas could be tested without Ewers but now looks fine.
Next week: vs. UL-Monroe
2. Ohio State
Nothing for the Buckeyes since they had bye week so they should be ready to go for Marshall next week. They open Big 10 play in 2 weeks at Michigan State
Next week: vs Marshall
3. Georgia
Georgia had a surprising test this week at Kentucky and they were lucky to survive. The offense looked bad and Kentucky was able to have their way with the defense. If Kentucky had a decent offense and a little better coaching, Georgia would’ve lost. Georgia getting tested proves to the rest of the SEC Georgia could be in trouble this season.
Next week: bye
4. Miami
The Hurricanes absolutely obliterated Ball State in week 3 winning 62-0. Ball State is awful but Miami is still looking like a huge problem for the rest of the country and almost looks certain to win the ACC. Miami’s schedule looks incredibly easy the rest of the year and won’t be tested until Louisville in October.
Next week: @ South Florida
5. Tennessee
Tennessee embarrassed Kent State on Saturday beating them 71-0 after leading 65-0 at half. The Vols continued to look dominant and have a star at Quarterback in Iamaleava who legitimately could win the Heisman Trophy this season. Their first true test will come next week against a solid Oklahoma team in Oklahoma, but they should be favored. The SEC could be in trouble.
Next week: @ 15. Oklahoma
6. Alabama
Alabama shut down a lot of doubts with their win over Wisconsin. Wisconsin isn’t great but an SEC team going north and crushing Wisconsin is a big statement. Jalen Milroe looked great and it felt like traditional Alabama even with a new coach. Now they have 2 weeks to prepare for a massive matchup against Georgia.
Next week: Bye
7. Ole Miss
Ole Miss played their first power 4 team this week against Wake Forest and had no issues winning 40-6. This looked easy for Ole Miss as the whole season has so far. They have only allowed 9 points. They will get challenged soon as they start SEC play in 2 weeks.
Next week: vs Georgia Southern
8. Penn State
Penn State is coming off rest to play another MAC school in Kent State. The Nittany Lions don’t have much to worry about now as they should stay undefeated for a while. Their first decent test is in 2 weeks against Illinois but their real tough game will come at USC.
Next week: vs. Kent State
9. USC
USC has their first Big 10 game this weekend and it’ll be a test. While Michigan isn’t great USC will still have to prove themselves and Michigan will want to get a big win. QB Miller Moss will have to play like he did against LSU and the defense will have to play ok against a bad Michigan offense. This weekend could be massive for the Trojans.
Next week: @ 18 Michigan
10. Missouri
Missouri had probably the best win of the weekend against a very solid Boston College team. Missouri now has to open up SEC play but they’ll do so against the worst team in the conference at home against Vanderbilt. The Tigers all around look strong and have a solid chance for the playoff if they keep playing the same way.
Next week: vs Vanderbilt
