The Loss of Another

The following helpful information can be found at in.gov/issp

In the wake of the recent death of a Brebeuf student, Cathedral is reminded of the losses they have faced over the last four years. Current seniors were going into their sophomore year when they heard about Mario, celebrating Christmas when they heard about Johnathan and stressing about their final exams when they learned about Lendon.

Needless to say, Cathedral has faced their fair share of loss over the last couple of years. Let me preface this by saying, this isn’t a game of comparison based on which school has had it worse but rather, a call to all students, whether you go to Cathedral or Brebuef, to remember the lives of those lost and most importantly, be there for each other when it happens.

I can’t sit here and pretend that I know what to say because to be blunt, there is no reason why a seventeen year old kid should die. However, I’m writing this to remind whoever is reading that life is precious. You never know when you could get that text or call that changes your life. We can no longer allow ourselves to take our lives and the lives of those around us for granted. You’ve heard it before but, now more than ever, it is important to remind yourself to tell those around you that you love them because at the end of the day, that’s all we can really do.
