Seven wrestlers qualify for State Finals

Team expects to compete against Avon, Brownsburg for State team title

Based on their performance in the Feb. 11 Semistate, seven varsity wrestlers are set to the compete in the State Finals at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

The three Semistate champions who will compete in the finals, which begin Feb. 17. They are sophomore Jordan Slivka (126 pounds), senior Breyden Bailey (132) and junior Zach Melloh (138). They will be joined by four State qualifiers: freshman Caleb Oliver (113), freshman Elliott Rogers (145), senior Ben Stewart (195) and junior Andy Guhl (220).

Head Coach Mr. Sean McGinley’s team swept Sectional, Regional and Semistate championships and heads into the Finals expected to compete with Avon and Brownsburg for the State team title.

For Irish fans headed to Bankers Life, the price of a ticket is $8 per session or $20 to cover both Friday and Saturday sessions.
