Props from previous shows hang from the ceiling in the back of the auditorium.

Auditions for the spring musical, “Ride the Cyclone,” never before done in a high school environment, will be Dec. 6 and Dec. 7. Dance auditions are Monday and Singing auditions are on Tuesday.

Theater director Ms. K.T. Peterson said, “The musical has six leads and that’s it. There’s actually no ensemble (in the original show), but I will be adding an ensemble.” Peterson said that it is somewhat typical to pad ensembles to a musical in this manner. Although noting uncertainty with turnout, Peterson said, “I am prepared to cast it as it is, which is about 10 people.” There are a few non-singing parts required in addition to the six leads.

In the dance audition, actors will be asked to perform at the direction of the dance director. Peterson said the actors would be separated into three groups.

For the singing audition, Choir Director Ms. Marian Bender and Peterson will judge based on the girls’ performances of “Popular” from “Wicked” and the boys’ performances of “Waving Through a Window” from “Dear Evan Hanson.”

To any student worried over the auditions, Peterson said, “I know it can be stressful, but hopefully it’s a little fun.”
