Times are scary and uncertain right now. With all the media focusing on COVID-19 and the fear that it brings, here five movies on Netflix to get your mind off of the coronavirus.

“Drillbit Taylor” (2008)

This Judd Apatow produced comedy, cowritten by Seth Rogen and starring Owen Wilson, is a delightful little discovery. Three high school freshmen hire a beach bum to be their bodyguard against two psychotic upperclassman bullies. The film is incredibly humorous and possibly one of Wilson’s funniest roles to date. This is a film I highly recommend, so if you have the time, check it out.

“A Futile and Stupid Gesture” (2018)

Will Forte stars in this biopic of Doug Kenny, the man behind National Lampoon’s “Animal House” and “Caddyshack.” The film follows Doug Kenny throughout his life from his time at Harvard to his rise and fall within the comedy world. The film is absolutely hilarious and tells the incredible story of this extraordinary man.

“A Grand Night In: The Story of Aardman” (2015)

This documentary takes a look at the British animation studio Aardman Animations. This hour long film is a nice, feel good movie and has a comforting effect on the viewer. I especially loved this film because I grew up watching Aardman films such “Wallace and Gromit,” “Chicken Run” and “Creature Comforts.” After you view this movie, I suggest checking out other Aardman films.

“The Naked Gun” (1988)

From the makers of “Airplane!” and “Top Secret!” comes this hilarious cop comedy. The film follows Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen) as he uncovers a plot to kill the Queen of England on her visit to Los Angeles. The film contains numerous sight and language gags that will have you rolling on the floor laughing.

“Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” (2010)

Edgar Wright directs this romantic comedy starring Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Aspiring musician Scott Pilgrim starts dating Ramona Flowers when she moves to Canada. However, trouble occurs when it is revealed that for them to continue dating, he must defeat her seven evil ex-boyfriends. This film is visually pleasing and hilarious for anybody who is a fan of video games. I also recommend checking out the graphic novel series that it’s based on.
