The first classroom sponsorship at Cathedral High School is Mrs. Katie Lewis’s classroom in the religion hallway. It is sponsored by Marion and proudly displays the school colors blue and gold. Additionally, Cathedral’s administration’s goal is to have each religion classroom sponsored in order to promote various Catholic colleges.

“There are not any other potential sponsorships from colleges right now. I know they (Cathedral Administration) want a lot of the religious rooms to have a Catholic college sponsorship” said Religion Teacher, Mrs. Meg Ahnert.

Therefore, over this past summer, Holy Cross College decorated a classroom in the religion department’s hallway Mrs. Megan Ahnert’s classroom. “When Holy Cross was here for a visit last year, they saw the Marion room and they wanted to do something similar,” said Ahnert.

With approval from administration, the design process began and then Holy Cross College had to decide which classroom to sponsor, which in the end, was Ahnert’s room. In fact, over the summer, the decoration of Ahnert’s classroom began, and it was finally finished early this school year in the fall. Ahnert’s room is proudly displaying an image of an arch on the campus at Holy Cross College. It is also displaying their core values and their school color of navy.

The new sponsorship ultimately improves the atmosphere of the classroom. “I like it. It makes it more welcoming and nicer and cleaner and more inviting. I think it adds more to it. It also helps improve the learning environment” said Ahnert.
