“What’s Winfo?”

The annual Winter Formal took place in the SLC and Dining Hall on Saturday

As daylight hours decrease and students’ stress ahead of finals increases, Winter Formal serves as a time for many to enjoy a night of great music, dancing and holiday festivities. The dance was this Saturday, Dec. 9, from 7:30 to 10 p.m., and admission was five dollars per student.

Senior class officer Leila James has been organizing Winter Formal along with her fellow class officers, and she said, “(It’s) an easy going dance, and girls usually wear dresses and guys wear button ups—more formal attire.”

However, seniors typically wear Christmas sweaters and more festive gear.

As class officers, James said, “We pick out the theme, plan details and set up for the dance. We pick out the decorations, take down and set up. During the dance we will help with whatever is needed for the class moderators, Mrs. (Katie) Lewis and Mrs. (Cece) Kasberg (‘83).” Last year’s theme was Stranger Things, but this year’s is “Tacky Christmas”.

Additionally, students not from Cathedral are permitted to attend as long as their host has filled out and turned in the permission form.

Attendees should expect a medley of Christmas music along with popular songs. “We will have popcorn and drinks, and we will show a movie in the SLC,” James said. The dance will culminate in the crowning of Snow Royalty, one prince and one princess from the freshman class. Winter Formal organizers hope the event will provide a fun-filled, festive night for students ahead of final exams in just a few weeks. With popcorn, music and movies, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

James encouraged, “Everyone should come and have a fun evening at Winter Formal.”
