It’s that time of year! The best time of year! Time to start the Christmas shopping, and better, the Black Friday shopping sprees and deals. Black Friday shopping is the prime opportunity to fully maximize deals and savings, with the fun of visiting the stores! 

While some may say that Cyber Monday is the ultimate time to fuel their shopping urge, Monday takes the fun out of the widely recognized day. Recently, Cyber Monday has evolved with different deals and opportunities, all from the comfort of one’s home. This completely strips the fun out of the known stress and exciting factors of Black Friday. Why shop at home when you can get the full Black Friday experience by visiting a store. 

While Monday excludes the crowd and hectic stores, it ruins the fun and known traditions of early shopping and perks with purchases. As for me and my family, Black Friday shopping has easily become a tradition and exciting day. Every year, my sister, my mom and I make our way to the Fashion Mall to experience the true Black Friday shopping. By shopping in stores, we are able to fully maximize our day and shopping deals. 

A day full of early wake up calls and prime deals, has quickly been ruined by the fascination of shopping at home. These so-called “cyber” deals have quickly made their way into storefronts as well. If it’s called “Cyber” Monday, then why do these deals also sometimes apply in store? To me, that defeats the whole purpose of the option to shop online. While these deals could be different in store vs. online, they need to stay specific to their specific day and deal. 

Wake up early. Go to the mall. Spend the day with family and friends! Get your Christmas shopping done early! And most importantly, maximize your deals and money.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are days when prices are reduced and discounts are placed on a wide variety of products both online and in stores. Shoppers are eager to score the biggest bargains on appliances, clothes, holiday gifts, and much more. Though both are possibly the biggest shopping days of the year and have almost the same deals, Cyber Monday seems to outdo Black Friday. 

Cyber Monday is by far the biggest online shopping day of the year. People often want to avoid the large crowds and take advantage of the online promotions at home, at work, at school, and wherever else they can. It’s easy, just a click of a button and you get your much-wanted product  delivered to your front door.

Bailey Brownlow ’26 says, “I like Cyber Monday more than Black Friday because it’s hard to get everything you want on that Friday since everything is usually sold out when you get there. On Cyber Monday, it’s easier to get the things you want since you don’t have to run and find them in stores.”

On Monday, you don’t need to wake up at the crack of dawn to get first in line at a store and fight your way toward the best deals. All your shopping for the Christmas season can be done from the comfort of your home and the convenience of your device. 

Though, if you enjoy shopping in person, retailers still have their discounts on Cyber Monday. The big difference is that it won’t be as crowded and hectic compared to Black Friday since it is a weekday and people have work and school. Cyber Monday is worth making the most of, especially if you don’t want to go through the suffering of waiting in line.
