Irish Adrenaline won every single competition they competed in last year. Before you think it couldn’t get any better, they ended up winning Nationals in Orlando, Florida. They’re a true representation of the excellence Cathedral has and brings for students. Not only that, they also set an example of working as a team and how far it can take you.
Show Choir more than anything takes team work and cooperation. It takes days on weeks on months of hard work. The Director of Show Choirs, Concert Choirs, and Piano Studies, Marian Bender is the perfect example of a great leader at Cathedral. Jordan Fox is the Assistant Director of Irish Adrenaline Show Choirs. They both push their students to be the best while also developing amazing relationships with each and every one of them.
Fox said, “Mrs. Bender chooses a theme then finds songs that fit within that theming. From there she works with composers, music editors, and lyricists to ensure each song is unique to our show.”
Fox explains what it takes to be a winner consistently and the bond they’ve built. She said, “I would say the main reason we are consistently a top contender at competitions is the dedication our girls have to the team. We have roughly 500 hours of rehearsals before we hit the competition stage for the first time. It is very rare that a teammate misses a rehearsal.”
So far this year, they have placed first runner up in both of their first two competitions, placing second by just half a point in the first competition, and 3 points in the second competition.
Although, last weekend they competed in their first ever large division competition where placing second is an outstanding achievement. They also finished first place for best vocals at this performance. Their show set is outstanding year after year.
“Shows do not work without in-depth collaboration from start to finish,” Fox said. Nailing the choreography, music, and tech of a set is not easy, however Irish Adrenaline continues to impress with theirs.
The Irish Adrenaline group of students have become a family and always have each other’s backs. They love show choir and competing against other schools, but they also cherish the relationships they’ve formed that will last a lifetime. Irish Adrenaline has accomplished tons of success while also forming lifetime lasting relationships with each other. All they do is win, on the stage, and off the stage.
Senior Emma Vande Bosche said, “With the long rehearsal hours, we spend extreme amounts of time together where it’s impossible not to become a family. Working together to put this show together has bonded us and helped us become more of a team each and every day through our shared passion of music.”
