Ben Kauffman – Seattle Seahawks
Super Bowl 60 is here and it’s 2014 all over again. Seahawks, Patriots. One of the most iconic Super Bowls in history gets a rematch, but with new faces. Instead of Brady and Wilson, we have Maye and Darnold. The Patriots arguably have the MVP with Drake Maye, who is undoubtedly a star, but Seattle has had what looks like the best team all season. It seems like this is Seattle’s Super Bowl to lose.
The city of Seattle has seen some heartbreaking losses over the years with Malcom Butler essentially ending the Legion of Boom and recently the Mariners heartbreak in the playoffs. However, the heartbreak ends Sunday night in Santa Clara with this absolutely loaded team.
Let’s start with the Seahawks offense. They average around 351 total yards a game which is good for 7th in the league. Sam Darnold and company are also putting up 28 points a game and 36 points a game in the playoffs. They have one of the best, if not the best, receivers in the league with Jackson Smith-Njigba. In the same breath, they have one of the best rushing attacks led by Kenneth Walker who ran for 4.6 yards per carry and gives Seattle’s offense a 2 way attack. Not to mention the Seahawks have one of the best special team units with an elite returner in Rashid Saheed. He’s already completed one kickoff return for a touchdown on the opening kick against San Francisco in the Divisional Round.
Seattle’s defense is another monster in itself. They are one of the best units in the league and will arguably be the best unit in this game. They were first in points allowed this season and 6th in yards allowed. During this postseason run, they held the 49ers to 6 points and the league’s best offense, the Los Angeles Rams, to under 30.
On top of the fact that the Seahawks are statistically better, they are more battle tested than the Patriots. The Patriots played one of the easiest schedules in the NFL before getting some very good luck in the playoffs. Maye turned the ball over 4 times against Houston, but was outdone by Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud who’s QBR would’ve been higher if he spiked it every play. Maye and the Pats then played Denver’s backup when starter Bo Nix fractured his ankle, who struggled to move the ball all day.
Class of 2026’s Cameron Koers also thinks it’s Seattle’s year. “The Seahawks have a great defense and Jackson Smith-Njigba is a game changer that the Patriots don’t have at receiver,” he said.
It may be the Seahawks and Patriots but it’s not 2014 again. Tom Brady isn’t running out of the tunnel on Sunday. Maye has gotten his flowers but Seattle looks to bring defensive showers to end the Patriots run and bring Seattle its first championship in 13 years.
Royce Ward – New England Patriots
The New England Patriots are tied for the most playoff wins, tied for the most Super Bowl wins, and have the most Super Bowl appearances. This season they are 17-3, and they have beaten some very good teams like the Texans, Bills, Broncos, and Chargers. If you can’t decide who you think will win the Super Bowl, I can help with that.
The easy option is the Drake Maye led New England Patriots. Drake Maye is the future of the league. At just 23 years old, he is an MVP finalist, a division winner, and a conference winner. The only thing left for him is to win that Lombardi trophy. We all know what happened the last time the Seahawks played in the Super Bowl. If you don’t, let’s just say they decided to not give the ball to one of the most dominant running backs ever, at the one yard line.
Statistically, they’re an unbelievable team. Jimmy Saul ‘26 said, “the Patriots balanced offense will be too much for the Seahawks to handle.”
They rank second in the NFL in points and yards given up defensively. They’re fifth in the league in touchdowns per game offensively, and they have an average margin of victory of 9.9 points. Drake Maye is third in the league in passing touchdowns, while Sam Darnold for the Seahawks is tenth in the league. Drake Maye has just 8 interceptions, while Sam Darnold has 14 interceptions. The Seahawks have one Super Bowl win, the Patriots have six. The Patriots simply are on a different level.
The Patriots are on a different level offensively and defensively. Everyone calls the quarterback the leader of the offense and the leader of the team. It’s clear that Drake Maye is the better quarterback with the stats to back him up. If we take a look at the head coaches, The Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has 5 career playoff wins as a head coach. The Seahawks head coach Mike MacDonald has 2 career playoff wins.
At the end of the day, the Patriots are the clear pick to win Super Bowl LX. Drake Maye will win his first Super Bowl at just 23 years old. The Patriots know how to win historically, and this season. They will hoist the Lombardi trophy on February 8th in Santa Clara, California.
