School is back in session for Cathedral High School. After a well deserved Christmas break and J-Term session, the long awaited second semester is finally here. Students and staff are eager to be back in the classrooms as they are ready for a fresh start with new goals and challenges.
Educators are also ready to be back on campus. Mr. Dave Neeson, Director of Campus Ministry said, “I am glad to be back in school because I truly enjoy the routine of the year. I like seeing the students that we are blessed to have on the Hill. The second semester goes so fast that I’m really trying to cherish the weeks we have left. Come the end of May we won’t see these seniors anymore and I really enjoy the 2025 class.”

For some students, the second semester brings class changes such as new opportunities with electives. Classes like yoga, tech theatre, and ceramics are all fun electives that students have the opportunity to take. Second semester is a good time to take these classes because the semester has less days than first semester and there are more “special schedule” days which include assemblies, CORE, and more.
Second semester is a special time of the year for the 2025 senior class. It is a semester full of “lasts,” fun senior activities, and even graduation. Senior Leilani Jones said, “this year, second semester is a bittersweet time. Although I am excited for my future, leaving Cathedral is going to be hard. I am going to try to live this semester to the fullest and enjoy the time with my classmates.”
This semester is full of special events. The students and staff have a schedule packed full with Winterfest, Catholic Schools Week, Shamrauction, Prom, Spring Break, and the Irish 500 at the end of the year.
Junior Clare Meschi said, “I am excited to get back into my school routine and finish off the year strong. I really like my new classes as I get ready to become a senior.”
