Ballots are closed as students await the results of the Student Council elections for the 2024 school year. Student Council plans and organizes Homecoming, Winterfest and Irish 500. Mrs. Kim Jamell, moderator for Student Council l, says, “I think it’s important to keep Cathedral traditions alive and fun.”

Lady Irish tennis takes on the Eagles of Guerin Catholic. Manager Sam Sgroi (senior) says, “Their greatest challenge is their mentality. It’s all in their head.” The Irish won their overall matches 3-2.

Lady Irish Softball takes on the Bulldogs of Brownsburg in a tightly contested game, with both teams barely hanging onto an above .500 record. The game was even at the 6th inning, though the Irish faltered when they gave up 3 runs at the top of the seventh inning. The Bulldogs gave up a run at the bottom of the seventh inning. Head Coach Linda Bamrick stated that their greatest challenge was “mental preparation”. The Bulldogs beat the Irish 8-6.

Cathedral fine arts students show off their talents during the Spring Art Show. Everything created from cameras to canvas are being proudly being presented on behalf of the fine arts department. Mrs. Joellen Desautels, a graphic arts and photography teacher, says, “It brings the artwork to the forefront and makes the student’s own perspective come through.”

Cathedral Track & Field team visits Whiteland for the J.V. invite. 85º F heat and high wind speeds were serious factors during the meet, but nonetheless the Irish came out and showed their finest. Head Coach John O’Hara had this to say about the meet, “We’re not going to race down against our competition, we’re going to race above it.

Team DiFFrnt takes on team Young Student Leaders (YSL) in the annual Intramural Championship game. In the spirit of Joe Namath, YSL Head Coach Michael Williams (Senior) guaranteed a victory against Team DiFFrnt, saying, “We gonna win”. YSL promptly lost the game, which ended in mercy rule.

Tess Wojtalik (Junior) winds up her serve to begin the Girls Tennis first home-opener of the season. Tess defeated her opponent, and was one of two players to actually beat the Tigers of Fishers High School in a singles match that evening. Girls Tennis head coach Jeff Giles is very optimistic about the season, stating, Fishers is ranked number two in the state and have a very strong group of singles players. This is the first matchup of the year and would like to make a good first impression for the season.

A new policy has officially been installed this week regarding what to wear in the cafeteria. Cathedral students are no longer allowed to wear sweatshirts in the cafeteria per Cathedral administration. Mr. Aundrey Wright, a proud supporter of this new policy, states, “There’s a reason why these rules were implemented. Flick is an outside company and we’ve seen people abuse this system by stuffing food in their sweatshirts and what not.”
