The women’s varsity basketball team is set to compete in the Sectional semifinal against the North Central Panthers on Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Arsenal Technical.

The team is coming off of a 62-41 victory against Crispus Attucks on Feb. 5 in the tournament’s opening round. The win improved their season record to 15-9 and provides them with momentum heading into the Feb. 7 matchup.

Meanwhile, North Central is coming off a win of their own against Lawrence Central by a margin of 76-56, improving their record to 16-9.

Senior Justis Gordon shared her thoughts on the season and her team’s upcoming game. “We have come along way this season and we have great potential moving forward in this Sectional,” she said. “Each person has stepped up to fulfill the job that was needed and if we can all do this (on Feb. 7) we can beat our opponent. Our defeat of Attucks (on Feb. 5) has us confident, fired up, and ready to take on North Central tomorrow.”
