Senior Cole Hocker, left, competes at last year’s State track meet at Indiana University.

Mr. John O’Hara ’02 serves as the head coach of the team for his fourth season. A number of coaches help in specific events.

Last season the team claimed the titles of City champions, Golden Bear Invite champions, freshman City champions (with a record number of points), second place in Sectional (setting a school record for points) and 23 Top 10 all-time school marks.

At the New Balance Nationals, the distance medley relay finished third. In the State Finals, senior Cole Hocker finished second in the 1,600-meter race.

O’Hara said, “We are looking to do even better in 2019. Last year we were Golden Bear Invite champs and City champs. We finished second in Sectional for the second year in a row. The team was also freshman City champs as well, so the younger athletes are looking to contribute this season. This should be our most successful year in school history.”

At the indoor State meet on March 23 at Indiana University, the distance medley relay set the indoor state record.
