Senior Maeve KJoscielski ’18 plays in last spring’s State Finals at North Central.

Coach Mr. Mark Noe returns for his 17th season as head varsity coach for the women’s tennis team. He is joined by Assistant Head Coach Mr. Dale Seipel and Assistant Coach Mr. Joe Lustig.

Last season, the varsity team was 18-2, and some of the highlights included State Finalist appearance and a doubles State championship with senior Claire Koscielski and junior Meghan Coleman.

Koscielski will attend the University of Cincinnati next fall to play collegiate tennis. She will serve as the team captain and one of the key returning players.

Noe wrote in an email, “This group of young ladies is a very special team. We have seven returning veterans from a great season last spring. Many of the girls have been focused on the improvement of their games, such as strokes, strategy and mental awareness, and have paid the price in the post and pre-season preparation.

“This will be an exciting year as the girls have another State run in mind. The team is also focused on the each other and reinforcing that we have a great opportunity.”

Noe said the goal of the season was to “have one fun” and enjoy the season, the seniors and their teammates.

“The leadership is built on trusting the coaching staff and your teammates. We ask the varsity super stars to advise and guide others who need help with their games,” said Noe.

“Our strength is once again a dangerous line-up of three high level singles players in Koscielski, Coleman and sophomore Ellie Pittman. There won’t be many teams that will have the depth and experience that we will have in singles,” Noe said. “This also means that we will have a large target on our back. Humility and hard work take you this team a long way. These young ladies take nothing for granted.

“The coaching staff has seen improvement in our doubles players from last season and have confidence that they to take this to the next level of success during match play,” the coach said.
