The varsity baseball team, which won the State title in 2017 and was State runner-up in 2018, is scheduled to open the varsity season on March 25.

In his first two seasons as head varsity coach, Mr. Ed Freije ’99 led the team to a State title and a State runner-up finish. Now this season, he hopes to have the same success with his squad.

He is helped by varsity assistants Mr. Brad Pearson and Mr. Jeremy Sinsabaugh, and the JV head coach and varsity assistant, Mr. Austin Green.

These seniors will play college baseball: Derek Haslett, Wabash; Sam Phillips, Wabash; and Peyton Schofield, University of Charleston Southern.

Freije said, “The Fighting Irish baseball program will look to earn their way back to Victory Field for the third consecutive year with an experienced group of seniors and some young players stepping up and into impactful roles. We return a solid senior group of pitchers that threw significant innings last year, along with a few younger arms that will compete for innings this season.”

The varsity was set to open the season on March 25 against Noblesville at Brunette Park.
