Playing in the most competitive Class 4A Sectional in the state, with three of the top seven teams in the most recent poll competing at the same tournament site, Head Coach Mr. Jason Delaney’s men’s varsity basketball team will open tournament play on Feb. 26 at Lawrence North against the host Wildcats.

If the Irish win their opening game, they will play defending State champion Warren Central on March 1. The Sectional championship game is set for March 2.

In an email a few hours after the Sectional pairings were announced, Delaney wrote, “The sectional draw is not in our favor because we have an extremely difficult road, but it is the reason we play the schedule we do. We feel like we are built for this and we must take one game at a time or it would be easy to be overwhelmed. ‘To defeat a beast, you must become the beast.'”

The complete Sectional draw:

Tuesday, Feb. 26, Game 1: North Central vs. Arsenal Tech

Tuesday, Feb. 26, Game 2: Cathedral vs. Lawrence North
