Wrestlers repeat as State champions

The wrestling team made the most of advancing five competitors from the Semistate to the Feb. 16 State Finals at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Downtown Indianapolis, coming away with the State championship by earning 78 points to runner-up Avon’s 72.

Senior Jordan Slivka (160 pounds) and junior Elliott Rodgers (152) won individual State titles, with freshman Zeke Seltzer (113) and senior Alex Mosconi (145) finishing successful seasons as State runners-up.

This marks the third time in the last three years that the wrestling team has won State.

After Cathedral and Avon, the other schools rounding out the Top 10 at the State meet: Brownsburg, 65 points; Evansville Mater Dei, 65; Columbus East, 61; Roncalli, 53; Portage, 41.5; Culver Academies, 39.5; Perry Meridian, 39; and Jimtown, 36.
