School honors Jen’s memory
Dec. 2 event dedicates Jen’s Way in honor of Jen Maginot.
Dec. 10, 2015 is a date that will live on in history to the students of Cathedral. This is the day when Jen Maginot — friend, daughter and a great person — passed away.
Now, one year later, students gathered for a commemoration service and blessing of Jen’s Way, the newly built sidewalk winding up the side of the Hill. In an effort to commemorate Jen Maginot, there has been a bench built in her name. This bench sits just next to the sidewalk running up the Hill.
On Dec. 2, students gathered in the gym for a time of reflection. This service was filled with memories, Scripture and a beautifully written poem. The crowd then moved outside to the sidewalk and began a prayer service. After Fr. John blessed the bench and surrounding area, the Irish cross-country team released balloons. Students were supplied with bubbles, representing Jen’s bubbly personality.
The Maginot family attended as students came together in remembrance of Jen.
On Dec. 9, students are encouraged to wear crazy socks to school, another reminder of Jen’s presence in the school.
