Update: Principal Mrs. Julie Barthel released this statement to students and staff on March 19.

With today’s announcement from Governor (Eric) Holcomb, Cathedral will remain closed until May 4, 2020. We know this is not ideal, but we must follow the governor’s order to help reduce the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

We know this news is especially difficult for the Class of 2020. Administrators will do everything possible to celebrate our Senior Class while also following the strict mandates the government has implemented for schools and the community at large. Cathedral is a family and we take great pride in all of our traditions. We assure you we are working on ways to honor those traditions for our senior class.

Cathedral High School remains committed to providing our students with the best virtual educational experience possible. Our teachers are working very hard to keep connections strong while also effectively teaching their content and curriculum. Our academic leaders are doing continuous research to continue to improve this experience for our students, and it is our goal to improve each day.

Cathedral High School President Dr. Robert Bridges has released information regarding Cathedral High School closing from March 12 through April 14 and using eLearning instruction beginning March 16.

Bridges’ statement:

“Cathedral High School is suspending all in-person classes and extracurricular activities starting at 5 p.m. on (March 12). We will begin eLearning on Monday, March 16. An email with further instruction regarding coursework will be sent to students on Sunday, March 15. It is our hope to replicate the school day as much as possible. We will follow our current daily schedule and expect excellence. Your student should be prepared to begin work at 7:50 a.m. on Monday. Our plan right now is to resume in-person classes on Tuesday, April 14.”
