The Welch Activity Center will be the site of the Irish 500 on May 20.

Senior wrestlers Logan Bailey, Danny Brady, Jacob Huffman, Holden Parsons, Edwin Perez, Elliott Rodgers, Garrett Stewart and Tyler Wagner have their time to shine on Jan. 22 in the Welch Activity Center at 6:45 p.m. against the Roncalli Rebels.

Most of these seniors were a part of the championship teams in recent years, as they look to add one more ring to their fingers this February.

Rodgers won the individual State title last year in the 152-pound weight class and looks to repeat as a State champion, but now in the 160-pound class. Rodgers is currently ranked third in his class and has felt great about his performance so far this season, he said, although he has had some close losses. He said, “I’m not worried, though, because heading into State, all of my mistakes will be fixed.”

He expressed excitement for his Senior Night, saying, “Participating in Senior Night is always pretty fun, but being a senior this year is even better. To look back on what my team and I have accomplished since freshman year is awesome.”

Wagner is currently ranked sixth in his weight class and said he has “felt that I’ve gotten better over the season and I am fully prepared for the State series.” Wagner said he is “a bit sad that Senior Night is already here, given it is the last time I will be wrestling at Cathedral.”
