During CYO Night earlier this season, senior Justis Gordon leads the Irish onto the floor in the Welch Activity Center.

Sporting 22 on her uniform, senior Justis Gordon has been shining for the Irish basketball team all of high school, joining the 1,000-Point Club on Dec. 2. During that game against Ben Davis, a 64-60 win for her and her teammates, Gordon scored her 1,000th career point at the varsity level.

Gordon and her teammates defeated Bishop Chatard on Jan. 16 by a score of 53-47, avenging an overtime loss to the Trojans earlier this season. The Irish take on Heritage Christian on Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Welch Activity Center for the City title.

Gordon has played basketball since she was 4 years old at the Benjamin Harrison YMCA. Her dedication to the game has shown through her play and turned into success for her. She said she is undecided about playing basketball in her future.

Gordon is flexible on the court, playing both the guard and forward position, but she says, “I can play whatever position my coach needs me to play; whatever it takes to win.”

Besides shining on the basketball court, Gordon is also involved in Medical Club, Math League, Black Student Union and Liturgy Committee.
