The first blood drive of the school year will take place on Oct. 3  from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Shiel Student Life Center commons.

To donate blood, students must be 17 years old or 16 years old with a permission slip signed by a parent. In an email, theology teacher Ms. Katie Lewis wrote, “Donors should be well hydrated, have eaten a good meal, be in good general health and present a photo ID at registration.”

Lewis shared how significant she thinks that the effects of giving blood can be. She said, “I believe donating blood is important because there are so many people who depend on blood donations to live. Those patients rely on caring individuals to physically give of themselves.”

Students may access this site to sign up to donate.
