Speech team members qualify for State meet
Competition set for March 9 at Fishers High School
The speech State Finals will take place at Fishers High School on March 9, and Cathedral will be well represented.
The speech and debate team has 29 entries for the finals, with 20 different participants hoping to contribute to a State championship run. Mrs. Jeanne Malone, speech team head coach, said she always enjoys with the team. “Coaching speech and debate is inspiring. To help students find their voices and reach their potential is amazing,” Malone wrote in an email.
She says the team is always finding new ways to impress her and expects that to continue through the State and National finals. “Every day the team teaches me something new,” Malone said. She hopes that this program will continue to benefit team members after high school and that is where she finds he passion in coaching.
Malone said, “Perhaps the greatest joy comes from students who go on to use their voice for others as an advocate.”
