Students reminded not to attend conferences
Oct. 18 event only for parents, teachers
Because parents are given only five minutes to talk to each teacher at the Oct. 18 parent/teacher conferences, students are reminded they are not to attend these sessions.
Mrs. Anna Houk serves as the administrative coordinator for academic affairs, and is in charge of parent teacher conferences and can attend as a parent, as she is the mother of junior Diane Houk and freshman Ayrton Houk.
She said, “This is a good opportunity for parents to meet teachers and to be able to get help with their students’ needs.” Houk explained that she thinks the conferences provide parents with a chance learn more about how their son or daughter is doing in each class.
Houk said she has always had good experiences with parent teacher conferences.
The conferences take place on Oct. 18 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria and Welch Activity Center, depending on the last name of the teacher (A to H in the cafeteria and I to Z in the gym). Counselors will be in their offices on the first floor of Kelly Hall, according to information in the Oct. 17 faculty/staff bulletin.
