Head football coach to change roles
Streiff will serve as assistant athletics director
Familiar face, slightly new place.
Social studies teacher and former football Head Coach Mr. Rick Streiff has accepted a position as the assistant athletics director.
Streiff comes from an historic background with the Irish, leading the football program to 10 State titles in two separate tenures. Over his 23 seasons as the head coach, Streiff posted a 221-77 record in classes 3A, 4A and 5A along with a short stint in 6A. “I love the game of football,” he said, “and at Cathedral, I’ve loved the kids playing the game, and I’ve loved coaching them.”
But now his focus shifts to his new role. As assistant athletics director, Streiff assumes responsibilities previously assigned to Mr. Terry Fox, who will return to the classroom in August.
Streiff said, “Most of my day will be spent arranging for facilities and fields, securing officials and scheduling games for the teams. Also, I am one of the few to help set up for sporting events like freshman basketball games.”
