The Indiana Department of Education announced on Feb. 23 that Cathedral has been named an Indiana Four-Star School based on academics and other factors from the 2016-2017 school year.
According to information released by the department, “The Four Star Schools (program) is designed to recognize great schools in Indiana.” To earn the award, schools must have received a grade of “A” during the 2016-2017 school year, have excellent ISTEP pass rates, carry a overall high graduation rate and show success in closing achievement gaps.
In Feb. 23 email about the honor, Principal Mr. Dave Worland wrote, “Cathedral’s Holy Cross value of excellence is how we have operated for 100 years and consistently leads us to success. Excellence could not be accomplished without our dedicated faculty and staff who work tirelessly each school year. It is an amazing thing to see our students strive for excellence and their determination to achieve great things academically is special. Our parent cooperation and support with the standards we put in place for our students are also a key part of our success. The Cathedral family and teamwork are part of our history at Cathedral.
Cathedral is one of 238 elementary, middle and high schools in Indiana to be honored this year.
