With several winter sports coming to an end, the athletic schedule becomes less busy but perhaps more intense. The week of Feb. 5 through Feb. 10 features the women’s Regional dividing competition, men’s wrestling headed to New Castle for Semistate action, and men’s basketball team taking on Class 4A top ranked South Bend Riley.

Feb. 5: No events scheduled.

Feb. 6: The women’s diving team competes in the Regional at Plainfield at 6 p.m. Two divers, senior Myra Miller and sophomore Sophie Mernitz, will participate with hopes of qualifying for the State Finals.

Feb. 7: The men’s freshmen basketball team takes on New Palestine at home at 6 p.m.

Feb. 9: Pending results of the Feb. 6 Regional, Miller and Mernitz will participate in the State competition at the Natatorium at 6 p.m.

Feb. 10: The Irish wrestlers travel to New Castle for the Semistate meet starting at 9 a.m. Pending previous results, the women divers compete at the IU Natatorium in Downtown Indianapolis at 9 a.m. The men’s JV and varsity basketball teams travel to South Bend to take on the Riley. JV starts at 5 p.m., with the varsity following at 6:30 p.m.
