Senior named to academic all-State team
Alexander earns honor for women’s golf
Senior Sophia Alexander has been named to the academic all-State team in women’s golf by the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association.
To earn this honor, an athlete must meet three requirements: be an outstanding senior on her varsity team, earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher and score above 1,100 on the SAT.
Coaches from all around the state nominate players who meet these requirements to be in the all-state team.
Women’s golf Head Coach Mr. Mike Miller wrote in an email, “We always talk about developing student-athletes, so I think this is a great honor, because not only do you have to be a good player, but you have to be an outstanding student as well. Sophia, like (seniors) Sydney Hruskoci and Maddie Dittoe, has put in countless hours working hard at golf, (and) Sophia has also distinguished herself as a student as well.”
Ally Mattingly ‘15 also earned this honor during her senior year and is the last player from the women’s varsity team to be recognized, Miller said.
