Camp Cathedral is just one of the countless events that happen each summer on campus, and it offers something for everyone.  

Director of Summer Programs Mr. Anthony Ernst, who teaches social studies during the school year, said, “Camp Cathedral is our camps program that encompasses nearly 100 different camp offerings in enrichment and sports categories.”

The annual Camp Cathedral kicks off on June 5, with sessions continuing through July 28.

Students in kindergarten through the ninth grade can attend Camp Cathedral, but the younger campers have opportunities as well. Ernst said, “We also have a couple of toddler age camps as well.”

At Camp Cathedral, every camper can find something he enjoys. Ernst said, “We have camps for STEM interests like 3D printing and computer coding and programming. We also have communication camps like speech or American Sign Language. We have creativity for younger campers like ‘Frozen’ camp and Jedi Adventurer camp. We also offer off-campus adventures like go-kart racing or taking a trip to laser tag.”

He added that most of the varsity sports offer camps that are open to various ages.

Ernst said several new camps are added this summer. He said, “We have several new camps like Fairy Tales and Story Writing or Girl Power, a girls’ middle school leadership camp. Also new this year is Minecraft MegaBuild, where a complete replica of some of Cathedral’s campus will be created in the virtual world of Minecraft.”

Ernst also said that the enrichment side of camps employ college-age alumni to work all summer. Students, however, can still get involved. He said, “If you have a coach and your team is hosting a camp, you will likely be asked to help.”

Ernst added, “I really enjoy seeing the excitement of our campers to be on Cathedral’s campus for a week. They are really thrilled to be here.”
