Mr. Ed Freije begins his first year as head coach of the varsity baseball team this spring.

During last year’s 2016 season, the varsity team won both the City title and the Jasper Invitational, finishing with a final record of 23-5.

Key returning players this year include seniors Charlie Gomez, Evan Thies, Jack Kozyrski, Jack Myers, Jack Phillips, Kevin Flood, Nick Eaton, Ross Kirkpatrick and Tommy Kafka.

Freije has decided to not assign captains in hopes that all of the seniors will help to lead the team.

“This year’s group is made up of nine seniors that will all look to contribute and a group of juniors that will play significant roles and play major innings for us,” Freije said.

As Freije begins his first year as head coach, he hopes to build his legacy of success on the baseball field and lay the foundation for the coming years.
