NFL Playoffs – Corbin Stuckey
One game. Win or go home, that’s what the NFL Playoffs are about. The NFL playoffs have always been a thing people have looked forward to every year. People get to throw Super Bowl parties and have friends and family watch the big game together. This game is a one and done thing, every game is a new opportunity for a team to win it all.
The one and done scheme makes everything more suspenseful and interesting. In the NFL every single play is high paced, very high energy, and really physical. Each play of the game can dictate whether your team will be on point that night or be out of it.
Every single play of an NFL game brings suspense and action while an MLB game you will usually end up with a strikeout or walk and possibly a hit. The NFL season only lasts 17 games, and with this it can bring in more hype centered around the playoffs. The NFL playoffs are where legacies are made and talked about forever.
The playoffs are always a very important topic in discussing career achievements and the more championships you have the more highly you’re thought of. The bigger the player’s legacy the more people want to see them bringing in millions of viewers and millions of dollars, too. The NFL almost always has the most views out of any American sport. The playoffs are always an amazing time of year and every fan and player gets ready for this time of year.
The NFL has always been and probably always will be the best sport to watch. The MLB has not even come close to being as suspenseful, crazy, and hyped up as the NFL. The playoffs are a great way for people to come together and support a team they love and the NFL has always done a great job of being a great sport to watch during this time of year and will always have the best playoffs of any sport in America. The NFL is always on top and will be the best sport.
MLB Playoffs – Royce Ward
I’ve recently heard a lot of talk about which postseason people prefer, the MLB Playoffs, or the NFL Playoffs. The MLB Playoffs build so much more suspense and tension. I’m very rarely on the edge of my seat when watching an NFL Playoff game. However, MLB Playoffs have me staying up past midnight, watching over two teams I’m not even a fan of.
The series format the MLB has just makes it so much more playoff-like. In the NFL, a team’s worst game of the year could happen to be their playoff game, their one bad game ends their season. Whereas in the MLB, there’s multiple opportunities to show your best or worst. And there’s more room for gameplay adjustments.
Sports fans love to talk about “home field advantage,” and the MLB blows the NFL out when it comes to fan bases. The tension waiting between pitches and MLB home crowd eruptions is what does it for me.
Senior Ben Kauffman said, “I think MLB Playoffs is the best because of the crowd. Every pitch the stadium is going crazy with towels it gives you chills watching it.” There are countless baseball moments that you simply cannot watch without getting chills. The beauty of baseball is something football could never be. Not to mention there are so many more iconic moments in the MLB Playoffs.
There’s also a lot more parody in baseball. There’s rarely a “powerhouse” team in the MLB. Which makes the playoffs that much more exciting and intense because it feels like any team could win in any round at any moment. This season in the MLB not a single team won more than 97 games, but 8 teams won between 90 and 97 games. This just shows how evenly matched the playoff teams are. How does that not make you excited? Every game of every round is unpredictable and the crowd reactions you get from a simple walk to load the bases in the third inning is just as loud as a kickoff return touchdown in the fourth quarter.
