On Monday, August 18, alumni, parents, donors, board members, and other supporters gathered at Hillcrest Country Club for an 18 hole Florida Scramble. Donors and sponsors contributed with heartfelt generosity, ensuring Cathedral’s mission and vision were fully supported by them.
The day began at 10:00 AM, when all supporters split into four teams and competed for a total of 18 holes. In a traditional Florida Scramble, each player took turns hitting tee shots while the best shot was chosen to sit out as the cycle continued for each hole. It was beyond the game that supporters came together to share their passion for golf, while at the same time, expressing their dedication to Cathedral High School. School President Dr. Rob Bridges was one of the many Cathedral educators that attended the Golf Outing.
“The Father Kelly Golf Outing has three primary meanings — one, keep our roots and history known to today’s families; two, to build community as part of our brand, ‘Lifelong Connections,’ and offer an opportunity to gather in our school’s name; and three, to raise funds to support our good work,” said Bridges.
The uplifting hospitality of Cathedral’s supporters made the outing truly mission-driven, as described by Father Jomy Matthews. Participants of the Father Kelly Golf Outing had the opportunity to support the event through a variety of sponsorship options and opportunities, each contributing to the golf outing’s success and making the day all the more delightful.
Sponsors had the option to choose from presenting sponsor, bag drops, beverage cart, player gift, lunch, breakfast, snack, registration, interactive hole, putting green, driving range, proximity, and hole sponsorships. These opportunities ranged in support from $500 to $5000, allowing for all contributors to play a meaningful role in the success of the event.
Another piece of the successful event were the heartfelt conversations and lifelong connections. Throughout the day, participant interactions between one another emphasized why Cathedral’s support system is as strong as it is.
Bridges said “This event strengthens our sense of community by providing a way to come together and have good, clean fun.” The reunion of all participants created a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
For senior and school leprechaun, Isabella Caldwell, the day was especially memorable, “Cathedral is my home away from home and it is my safe space. Thank you so much for making Cathedral such a special place. Thank you for supporting Cathedral.”
