Senior students all over Indiana are recognized for this achievement. Senior students all over Indiana are honored by McDonald’s with the Black History Makers of Tomorrow for their strong commitment, along with $1,000 each to support their education journey.
Regina Jones, Cathedral senior, said, “I am honored to win this award. I started working at McDonald’s at a very young age, and I have been able to see all the good they do in the community. So much of what the organization does is about giving back to the community, and I am excited to continue that legacy in the future.”

Motivation to strive isn’t easy to achieve, but Senior Regina Jones found her drive to excellence at four years old. From a very young age, Regina has been involved in React Theatre, a company that devises plays around social issues. Growing up in that environment truly helped her engage in so many things. Regina’s mind expanded with so many extraordinary extracurricular activities that allowed her to strive at engaging with her community, leading to impacting and changing society.
Jones was awarded for her role as Vice President of the Black Student Union, a Peer Minister, a Holy Cross Council member, a tennis member and a McDonald’s employee. With countless responsibilities and schoolwork, Jones settles and finds a way to make time for her community while also balancing school. Though it may be difficult balancing time with extracurricular activities, school, work and volunteering, she has found her support system which allows her to rely upon them when she may need them.
Jones said, “I have a great support system, so my parents, family, and friends definitely allow me to rely on them. Time management is certainly a skill that takes time to develop, and I am still working on it, but the people surrounding me have made it easier.”
Regina is an inspiration and role model for many others, demonstrating how one can give back to their communities and leave a lasting legacy. She had a passion and chose to follow it, knowing the many opportunities it would bring. It allowed her to stay actively involved and find a passion to make a difference. Regina has consistently remained true to her community and passion.
Jones said, “It is so helpful to lean on others for support. Friends, family and especially, God, are all there to help you, and it is amazing to be able to seek help from them.”
