From January 6th to the 10th students with a passion for fashion are able to learn all there is to know about the industry. English educator Ms. Jennifer Neale provides a comprehensive guide to what fashion really is. This J-term is an opportunity for many to explore a new way of personal expression through clothing and style.
“We have researched different careers in the fashion industry and presented the options to each other. We created a thematic fashion show focusing on models, clothing choices, marketing and design. We have debated different styles and options for fashion. We visited different clothing stores to analyze their sales, marketing and clientele,” said Neale.
This J-term class is something that should be taken advantage of. Exploring new and unfamiliar learning styles, provides students the ability to expand their knowledge. It provides each student to willingly experience new paths and passions, along with many extravagant opportunities to make new memories.
Neale has a passion for anything fashion related and now she is providing students the opportunity to learn many new skills within her class. Neale choosing to teach Fashion during this week is influencing many students about the broad variety of careers that one can pursue within the industry. “It gives students insight into the fashion world, what careers are available within fashion, and I love fashion myself,” said Neale.
This J-term provides students with the opportunity to learn how to broaden their creativity, communication skills, personal style, confidence and self-expression. Students are able to work together and help one another strengthen their skills and passions. This is a passion that can be used within one’s career and life, it serves as a form of self-expression, creativity and compassion. These skills can later be applied to achieve success in a desired career.
There is so much that can be taken away from this week dedicated to fashion, as it goes far beyond clothing. Fashion is not about style or appearances; it’s about skills, creativity, and cultural identity that shapes a person. It plays a vital role in personal and professional growth, offering valuable lessons and skills that can support the future development of peers.
“I hope students gain many things, such as new ideas for their future, a love for learning, and inspiration” said Neale.
