The Theology-Philospy Club is currently being led by Mr. Matt Cannaday, one of the religion educators at Cathedral High School, and meetings are usually held twice a month in room 4237.
Mr. Cannaday is deeply rooted in his faith and wanted to start this club for students to find their place with God. He said, “The Theology/Philosophy club has always been an outlet for students who are curious about the big questions of life, and how, specifically, Catholic Christianity has addressed and currently addresses them.”
The Core Value of Zeal is going to be the theme for the year and will really be emphasizing evangelization in meetings and having the dedication and motivation for God. That is what Cathedral High School has always been about, not only that, but those that attend will also get the chance to learn more about different saints, and even the different readings, responses, and roles that happen during the Mass.
Senior Sophia Siepka shared her thoughts on the club and said, “I think the group is really lucky to be able to be with people who are like-minded and get to know them more because I think I would’ve never been able to talk to them and connect with some of the people in the group it not for zeal.”
Everyone is always welcome to join the club whether, Catholic or not. Cannaday said, “if they have an open heart, they can start to see the human experience through the lens of faith. Seeing the world in its material form is beautiful, but seeing it in a sacramental way changes our way of interacting with it entirely.”
