Halloween is all of the buzz around the Hill this week. The biggest topic is costumes. With Halloween today and this weekend being Halloweekend, everyone is excited. Whether the students have had their costumes picked out for months, or they’re scrambling to find one last minute, Halloween costumes are all the talk.
This year is a funky year with Halloween being in the middle of the week. This just gives highschool students the chance to celebrate both the weekend before Halloween and the weekend after! Cathedral gets creative when given the opportunity, here are some of their costumes this year!
Juniors Ben Kauffman and Tyler Carlos dressed up as Tiger Woods and his caddy. Kauffman said, “I liked being dressed up as a caddy because it was a fun way to incorporate golf into a fun night celebrating with friends!”
Senior Maggie Bowles dressed up as Pam from the office by being a black cat as a couples costume with senior Jake Shelton as Jim from the office by doing 3-hole Jim. Bowles said, “I always love dressing up for Halloween and seeing everyone’s creative show through their costumes.”
Junior Camilla Jackson dressed up as a Hershey’s Kiss for Halloween. She said, “I think it is a fun and different way to hangout with my friends.”
Senior Aidan Hughes dressed up as America. He said, “I dressed up as America because I LOVE AMERICA! It was a fun night to celebrate Halloween with all of my friends in their costumes.”
Freshman Julie Napier is dressing up as a bedazzled Ghost Face. She said “I am excited to dress up so I can go trick or treating with my friends and because I don’t normally trick or treat so this will be the first year in a while.”
Senior Jake Mayer dressed up as Chazz from the movie Wedding Crashers because his favorite actor is Will Farrell and he is a big fan of the film.
Sophomore Taraji Smith is dressing up as Soulja Boy. She said, “I am excited to dress up because it is Halloween and everyone gets to dress up as something or someone to express themselves without being judged. It is always fun to see everyone’s costume.”
Social Studies teacher Mr. Smith will be dressing up as Colts football player Anthony RIcharson. He said, “I am excited to dress up because I like to participate in Holiday festivities and go trick or treating with my kids tomorrow night. I’m excited to see them have fun.”
Junior Lazzy Tipton is dressing up as a lumberjack. He said, “I am excited to dress up because I wasn’t able to celebrate my sophomore year because I wasn’t allowed so I’m excited to get the opportunity this year.”
Campus Minister Dave Neeson is dressing up as an inflatable among us costume. He said, “I am excited because seeing my kids that happy brings me a lot of joy.”
Senior Reina Brooks dressed up as a vampire. She said, “It was a cute and easy costume to do and loved making it my own.”
English Teacher Mrs. Nickell dressed up as Wednesday Addams. She said, “I like dressing up because it’s fun to pretend like you’re someone else and it’s an opportunity to dress in a way you don’t normally get to. I like doing my makeup. I like seeing everyone’s personality shine through their costumes.”
Freshman Beckham Jeffares is dressing up as a basketball player. He said, “I am excited to dress up because it is halloween and I love basketball.”
Sophomore Andrew Condon is dressing up as a ghost for halloween. He said, “I am excited to dress up because it is the one day where I can dress how I want and be comfortable. I am really creative so Halloween is a time for me to show that off.”
Ceo of Johnny Macs, Mr. Freytag is dressing up as a frog with his family! “I am excited for Halloween because it is a holiday and I love to see my kids excited for the holiday. We have been watching movies like Hocus Pocus, Beetlejuice, and Casper. It is exciting because as a parent, Halloween isn’t just one day but a whole month of festivities. I am excited for the candy and ranking the quality of the candy house door to door.”
