Last Friday, the very first meeting for the Creative Writing Club was held in room 2202 at 8:00 in the morning. The first meeting was mainly just to introduce the new students to the club, and those who are already a part of the club and how things will work and operate moving forward.
Last week, Cathedral Educator Josh Dygert was very ecstatic to start the club, and getting to know the other students saying that “Creative Writing Club is a space for anyone that enjoys any kind of writing. Whether if it’s fiction, nonfiction, poetry, comic books, etc.”
Creative Writing is an art in its own way. Being able to create a new world or continuity is something that could be very fun and entertaining for a lot of people. Anyone who is a writer, or a poet is able to express themselves and their feelings in the stories they create and illustrate.
Everyone’s writing and process for putting a story together is different. Some people write the first thing that will come to their mind, while others take their time with what they write so that way, the story doesn’t feel rushed.
The Creative Writing Club’s President Samuel Wilcox even shared how he feels about the club and what he is excited about for the year saying “We’re excited about building a group of people who want to grow and collaborate.”
The club’s first meeting may have already happened last week, but it’s still not too late to join. Meetings for the club are going to be held every other Friday in room 2202. Questions can always be sent to Mr. Dygert.
Dygert believes the club is for anyone and that anyone could and should join, “A reason why you should join the Creative Writing Club is because you will get the chance to meet other people who share your interests and those who are excited to write and share their own stories.”
Wilcox added, “We are hoping to start a website of some sort for club members and others to publish their work for the school to read! We’re looking forward to what the future of the club holds.”
