Men’s volleyball season opener set for March 10
Defending State champs welcome Guerin to the WAC
From being defeated by Brownsburg in five during the regular season to beating them in three for the State title.
This is one of men’s volleyball Head Coach Ms. Rhonda Low’s favorite memories from last year as her defending State champion team opens the season March 10 in the Welch Activity Center against Guerin Catholic.
“It’s (Guerin’s) first year to have a team,” Low said.
In an email, Mr. Andrew Fuller, Guerin’s head coach, said that Low has arguably one of the most dominant men’s volleyball programs in the country. “(My team) will learn a lot and see where we strive to be if we want to be known as one of the top programs in the state. I have an excellent group of freshmen and sophomores to build this program around, which will ultimately help in the long run.”
According to Low, she said that she tries to encourage her players to be the best they can be as they learn to work together. She said that the team is extremely offensive using serving as a tool, while using blocking on the defensive. “(The team) jumps a lot, so we teach the boys body control,” Low said.
Matches against Roncalli, Noblesville, Carmel and Fishers will be among the highlights of the regular season as Low’s team prepares to defend its State title.
