With the Halloween season upon us, some are looking forward to numerous festivities like carving pumpkins, dressing up in costumes and going to haunted houses. Many are also eagerly awaiting the Champions Together haunted trail. Club co-president, junior Bryce Hahn, explained that the haunted trail is just one of the many fundraisers that benefit the Indiana Special Olympics.

This year, the fundraiser will be on Oct. 15, and it will be separated into two parts. Hahn said, “We’re going to have a little kids station from 1 (p.m.) to 4 (p.m.), and then from 8 (p.m.) to 10 (p.m.) is the scary time.” Younger kids can attend the earlier time slot, and trick-or-treat on the trail—a non-scary option. “For the older kids, we have the haunters come down and scare people, and we have more haunting decorations,” Hahn said. 

The trail itself starts behind Cunningham, wraps around the back of the school and ends after the tunnel. Hahn said, “The exit from the tunnel is a bit of a steep walk but nothing that people can’t handle.” When attendees arrive, they can check in at the entrance and pay the fee of $5 which will benefit the Indiana Special Olympics. 

Members of the club can sign up to either be haunters on the trail or help with the children who attend. Hahn said, “(Haunters) choose their station along the trail, and they can’t touch the people, but they can get close.”
