Graduation ceremony postponed to May 23
Event will take place at 6 p.m.
Due to poor conditions at Brunette Park that are expected to worsen over the weekend due to rain, Cathedral High School’s graduation ceremony now will take place on Monday, May 23 at 6 p.m. Students should arrive no later than 5 p.m.
The ceremony was originally scheduled for Sunday, May 22 at 1 p.m.
In an email, Principal Mrs. Julie Barthel wrote, “As you may have noticed, the weather forecast calls for thunderstorms Saturday night and Sunday morning. We have been in touch with several local meteorologists who have told us we could get an inch or more of rain during that time frame. There is a strong possibility that the ground at Brunette Park will be saturated Sunday at 1.
“Therefore, we are moving graduation to our rain date, Monday, May 23, at 6 p.m. The forecast looks fine for late Sunday afternoon and Monday. The ground should have plenty of time to dry, and the forecast calls for (zero) precipitation and a high of 68 degrees Monday afternoon. It will be a beautiful evening.”
