Spring sports update: Men’s lacrosse
The lacrosse team is 8-2 and is on a six-game winning streak as of April 20. This streak has included wins over two teams from Ohio and two from Tennessee, as well as wins over Center Grove 15-3 and Guerin Catholic 12-1. The team’s only losses have come to national powerhouses Culver Academy’s Prep team and Western Reserve Academy. The team is currently ranked first in the state in Class 2A.
The team is led by seniors Kevin Berutich, Jeff Utzinger and Beau Howard in a very deep Senior class. However, there have been some key underclassmen contributing so far, such as freshman Jake Mayer and sophomores Joey Konseco and Campbell Reid.
Upcoming: The team will face second-ranked Hamilton Southeastern when they travel there on April 22. That game will begin at 7 p.m. The team will travel to Culver to face the Eagles for a second time on April 26 (with the time to be determined). They will host Cincinnati St. Xavier on April 29 at 7 p.m. One of the biggest games of the season for the team will occur on May 13, when they will travel to Carmel to face the Greyhounds (with the time to be determined).
From Head Coach Mr. Andy Gruber: “This group is talented and poised for a strong run against in-state rivals HSE and Camel. Those should be great Friday night games.”
