While you were probably sleeping in on Saturday, April 16, the Cathedral Alumni Association hosted the annual Easter egg hunt event. The event was from started at 9 and ended at 10:15 a.m. and took place on the football field. 

Director of Philanthropic Engagement Mrs. Jean Smith ‘97 was in charge of the Easter egg hunt. Several emails were sent to more than 2,000 members of the community, encouraging them to bring their children. The event was open to children of Cathedral alumni, parents, teachers, and to former Camp Cathedral kids. Anyone could register online in order to take part. 

Around 30 National Honor Society members helped set up in order to earn service hours. They assisted in hiding the eggs around the field for the kids to find. 

Along with the hunt, there were Easter themed tattoo stations and opportunities to take pictures with the Easter bunny. Head of Maintenance Mr. Rick Mathis was the one under the costume with the bunny ears (but don’t tell the little kids).  

The Cathedral Easter egg hunt tradition has been going on for more than 20 years. Smith said she remembers coming back to Cathedral in 2006 and there still being an annual hunt.
