March may be the beginning of spring but it is also the start of an important season for basketball fans. March Madness will be celebrated with the annual a co-ed intramural basketball tournament. 

Anyone can sign up with their team for 5 on 5 competition. The team entry deadline is Feb. 25. The games will be played Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning March 1 and will end March 14. Captains should email their team roster to [email protected] to participate. The only students who cannot take part are those currently involved in basketball. If you play a spring sport, you must get permission from your coach.

Junior Ava Russell is participating in a team of five girls. She said about the team, “ We are not expecting to make it very far at all. It is about the time spent with friends doing something out of our comfort zone.” 

Russell’s team is planning on practicing together. She said, “Some of our team has never played basketball before. So we are trying to teach them the basics before games.”
