Black Student Union Christmas party is Dec. 10
Event will be followed by attendance at basketball game
The Black Student Union is hosting their annual Christmas party on Dec. 10, but this year it will be a little different, since there is a men’s basketball game that evening.
Director of philanthropic engagement Mrs. Jean Smith ’97 said the event will include a celebration and some time for fellowship, with plans for the party to shift to the Welch Activity Center for the basketball game.
Starting several years ago Black Student Union roots were formed from the EMBRACE Club and then the Cafe Club. Smith said, “We wanted to find a place that was separate from (those) clubs, where Black students could explore their shared cultural experiences and build each other up.”
BSU officer and junior Kahmara Munn said, “BSU is a great club and everyone is like family to me, and it’s a great way to get involved in school and get your voice heard.” The club is also a way for Black students to come together and talk about the struggles that they face.
So if you’re an African American Cathedral student looking to get involved in a club, Dec. 10 at 5:30 p.m. is an opportunity to learn more about BSU and connect with people who look like you.
